Format PFB was developed by Adobe Systems. That shortcut means Printer Font Binary and in fact it is based on file type known as PostScript. It has also its derivation, which is file format Printer Font ASCII that unlike PFB is using coding scheme labeled as ASCII. Today it is mainly used on Windows and Mac OS. Format PFB belongs to font family called Type 1.
Creating these files can be achieved in program FontForge. It allows you create fonts without problem. It can also use another formats like SVG, BDF or FON. It is localized into 4 global languages – English, Chinese, Japanese and German.
